LOGICAL FILLINGS

Do  you know why fillings are important?

Fillings can be just as important or even more important than crowns.

When a tooth is injured by decay, it is vital that the decay is removed very carefully limiting the removal of healthy tooth.

The remaining area needs to be sealed seamlessly to prevent early decay at the area where the filling material meets the natural tooth.

Any area where enamel is damaged or removed exposes the weakest area of a tooth (the dentin).

Without the healthy enamel or seamless filling protecting the dentin, acid can “melt/decay” the natural tooth faster.

Unnecessary removal of healthy tooth only weakens the tooth; and, a larger filling could result in the earlier need for a crown.
